Brad has helped thousands of people get their ducks in a row over the past 20 or so years in terms of getting ready for retirement. While Brad is very conservative (Managing Risk is a big part of what he does) he also tends to think outside of the box. For example, with tax rates as low as they are, it may not be the best time to be deferring income. To the extent possible, retirement income should be guaranteed, from sources such as pensions, Social Security or a guaranteed income stream from an annuity. Brad believes that retirement is not a good time to be taking big risks. He will frequently ask clients if they would prefer a sure thing or a gamble as they approach retirement.
Richard (Rick) has been a registered representative and a financial advisor with FSC Securities Corporation for over 15 years. This position has been in addition to his former primary position as the President of the Certified Public Accounting firm of Cech, Rosso & Company, P.C. He held that position from 1991 until he successfully sold his firm in 2018. The change has enabled Rick to focus more of his time as a financial advisor, helping individuals and businesses achieve their goals. Rick continues to maintain his license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Michigan and his Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
Rick also writes blog articles on various tax, business, and financial issues that he believes will benefit his clients under the name “outsidetheboxcpa”. The blog is incorporated on this website.
The years of service by Rick as a CPA have provided him with a wide range of tax law knowledge, financial insight and experience. Over the years, he has worked with thousands of individuals and businesses in the areas of tax planning and preparation, along with resolving a wide variety of other personal financial issues. Rick believes that his unique knowledge set gained while working as both a financial advisor and a CPA will be advantageous to his clients.
As a graduate of Walsh College with a Bachelors of Accountancy degree, Rick also holds the following licenses and designations:
- Securities License – Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, & Series 65
- Michigan Insurance License for Health & Life Insurance
- Certified Public Accountant
- Certified Valuation Analyst
On a personal note, Rick has lived in the Detroit Metropolitan area his entire life. His residence has been in Oakland Township since 1996. Rick is married to Trish, a retired registered nurse and adjunct nursing instructor at various colleges and universities. They have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Rick’s family enjoys their cottage in Harrison, Michigan, which is like a small compound, because close family and friends own 6 adjacent properties. Vacations and weekends are usually planned so that as many family and friends, as possible, can be there at the same time.
